Pros
The NutriChef PKFD06 is user-friendly. No need to guess which button to push because the built-in on/off button will just activate the fan and will stay at a constant temperature throughout drying. The trays are stacked horizontally which seals the heat between layers.
The unit also has a see-through cover which allows you to see the dried food.
It is also quiet. You can run this machine in the kitchen even while watching TV or talking on the phone. Good for those living in condominiums, apartments, or dormitories.
The unit is easy to clean and stain-resistant. Thus, no worries of smell or contamination. Just remove the trays and the cover and wash them in warm, soapy water. Wipe the base clean if needed with a warm, moist cloth or paper towel.
Since it’s light and compact, the unit is also portable. You can bring this anywhere be it a family picnic or travel.
Cons
One downside that we see with the NutriChef PKFD06 is the trays are not dishwasher safe as per the instructional manual. This is a common issue with food dehydrators. Rest assured that food dehydrator trays are easy to wash, and the fact that they’re small makes it even easier.
The NutriChef does not have a temperature control timer. We understand that users would like to forget about what they are drying for 8 hours and then be reminded of it when drying is done. Timers and thermometers are relatively inexpensive and readily available so it shouldn’t be a deal-breaker considering the dehydrator’s price.
